FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Answers You Need

HOW DOES THERAPY WORK?

At this time, therapy is offered via HIPAA-compliant telehealth and lasts about 50 minutes. Therapy may consist of individual "young folk", "young folk" and relevant family members, or just the parents/caregivers of the "young folk" client. The initial session would be an intake session to establish an understanding of policies, confidentiality and its limits, the reasons for therapy and Dr. Kay's tailored approach.

WHAT IS A BRIEF PSYCHODIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION?

Brief Psychodiagnostic Evaluations utilize limited measures to determine general diagnostic impressions, as opposed to a comprehensive psychological assessment. Typical concerns include ADHD, depression or anxiety, and behavior problems.

The process begins with a Diagnostic Interview (DI) of "young folk" and any relevant family members. This DI, conducted via telehealth, is to identify main questions and testing items for the evaluation. For most insurances, pre-approval is needed. Test administration would then take place at our office in Decatur and last about 2-3 hours.

Private pay clients receive a Good Faith Estimate after a 15-minute phone consultation.

WHAT IS PSYCHOEDUCATION?

Psychoeducation is an opportunity for Dr. Kay to educate groups on the mental health concerns of "young folk" and their families. Rates and topics are determined by request. These will be outlined in a mutual contract.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

Young Folk accepts Georgia Medicaid, Aetna, Ambetter, Amerigroup, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Elevance Health), CareSource, Cigna, Peach State Health Plan, and United Healthcare/Optum. Services and benefits vary depending on coverage.

For those covered by other insurance plans, we can provide private pay services only.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES FOR SERVICES?

The Investment for therapy and evaluations is aligned with the degrees and experience of the provider and are $200 per hour. There is no sliding fee scale as negotiated insurance rates are available to allow for better access to services.
